The first five zones in two drafts, an Escape key that closes one window at a time, and a new item window
14 commits that day. Written up from the work itself.

A day of first places and tidier windows: five zones went in as drafts, and Escape, the item window and the spell gems now behave the way the classic game's did.
The first five zones are in the game, each in two draft versions. Each zone was built twice, as version A and version B, and both went into the game. Among the new work are the Human City's east gate and a sewer grate, and a waterfall and crags in Kingsmeadow. These are first drafts, not finished places. Later in the day the classic zone maps were studied closely to set rules for the shape of each kind of place, so expect these zones to change.

Escape works the way the original did. Each press closes one window, the newest first. It never closes the windows that are always open. Once no other windows are left, the next press clears your target. If you are typing in the chat line, Escape takes you out of it.
The item window is laid out like the classic one. The item's name sits in the title bar and its icon in the top right corner. Below them come the stats in the classic order, with the classic short forms. If the item has an effect, its spell is shown as a green link.
You can move the spell gem window. Drag it by its frame, as you do the other windows. It cannot be dragged off the screen. Alt+L holds it in place, and its position is remembered for each character and saved with /layout.
Smaller fixes. Objects out in the rain no longer flicker between dark and light. Zones with nobody in them now stop, and start up again when someone needs them.
In the workshop. The zone builder can now make a city for any race from the world plan, with that city's own people ready to place. It also gained dungeons with every kind of way in, druid rings and wizard spires. The world plan itself now holds 132 zones, to be built in connected batches. None of these new places can be visited yet; they are tools and plans for building the world, not changes you will see when you log in.
